From My Perspective

Friendships develop and bonds are formed.  Sometimes it simply cannot be helped.

When you work with a family, in essence, over the course of a year and a half…seeing them regularly, in consistent communication…you form a relationship.  At least I do.  And although my effort is no different than it would be for someone I just met, there is something unique and very special about working with friends.  You know their mannerisms, expressions, how they smile, when they smile, if they squint, etc…all of these fundamentals matter within the world of photography.  Moreover, when people are comfortable with you as the ‘documenter’ of their big day, they let you in.  Their guard is down, and if you stay on the perimeter and photograph as an observer with access rather than a conductor, you are privy to some very touching and special moments.  A father kissing his daughter while she’s having her portrait taken, an unexpected and 100 percent genuine moment.

Friends, I hope you enjoy these weekly images from present or past which tell a unique story. As rambled about before, I love a photo that can keep your attention for several minutes; something that can provide the description of a moment without words.

Cheers,
Jack
